The Fate of Golden Antioch
Antioch is an ancient city. First built by one of Alexander the great’s generals it has stood for centuries. More recently, with Bohemond declaration of Antioch as a free city, open to all be they Muslim, Christian or jew, many see it as a symbol of hope.
It is a heavily fortified city, two walls surround it. One was built by the Romans when they ruled here and the other by Crusaders after the cities capture in 1098. The Fortress itself is built on the slope of the mountain Silpios, which stands behind the city. It is also the capital of the Principality of Antioch, though that realm is hard pressed by the enemies that surround it.
